구글 크롬 이용약관(EULA: End Use License Agreement) 11조에 대한 영미 블로거들의 비판이 일자 크롭 베타 영미판 이용약관은 즉시 변경되었다. 하지만 한글판 이용약관은 아직 그대로 남아있다. (물론 정식 버전에서는 한글판도 고쳐 나오겠으나) 자동적으로 권리가 보장되는 것은 아님을 보여주는 에피소드이다.
권리 위에 잠자는 자는 보호받지 못한다는 법언이 있는데, 법은 잠자는 공주를 깨우러 달려오는 그런 용감한 왕자는 아니라는 이야기.

(원레) 11. Content license from you
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying content, users of Google Chrome give to Google 'a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute' any submitted content. The aim of the licence is to enable Google to 'display, distribute and promote [its] services' and may be revoked for certain services. The user is, of course, not paid a dime for granting this perpetual and irrevocable licence to Google.
11.2 You agree that this license includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organizations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services.
11.3 You understand that Google, in performing the required technical steps to provide the Services to our users, may (a) transmit or distribute your Content over various public networks and in various media; and (b) make such changes to your Content as are necessary to conform and adapt that Content to the technical requirements of connecting networks, devices, services or media. You agree that this license shall permit Google to take these actions.
11.4 You confirm and warrant to Google that you have all the rights, power and authority necessary to grant the above license.

11. 귀하의 콘텐츠 라이센스 부여
11.1 귀하는 서비스를 통해 귀하가 제출, 게시 또는 게재하는 콘텐츠에 대해 이미 확보하고 있는 저작권 및 기타 권리를 보유합니다. 콘텐츠를 제출, 게시 또는 게재함으로써 귀하는 서비스를 통해 귀하가 제출, 게시 또는 게재하는 콘텐츠를 Google이 전 세계 어디서나 복제, 개조, 수정, 변환, 게시, 수행, 게재 및 배포할 수 있는 영구적이고 비독점적이며 취소가 불가능한 비독점적인 라이센스를 무상으로 Google에 부여하게 됩니다. 해당 라이센스는 Google이 해당 서비스를 게시, 배포 및 홍보하기 위한 목적으로만 제공되며, 해당 서비스의 추가 약관에 정의된 대로 특정 서비스에 대해서는 라이센스가 취소될 수 있습니다.
11.2 귀하는 Google이 제휴 서비스를 제공하기 위해 파트너 관계를 맺은 다른 회사, 조직 또는 개인이 해당 콘텐츠를 이용할 수 있는 권리와 제휴 서비스의 제공과 관련하여 Google이 해당 콘텐츠를 이용할 수 있는 권리가 본 라이센스에 포함된다는 점에 동의합니다.
11.3 귀하는 Google이 사용자에게 서비스를 제공하기 위해 요구되는 기술 관련 절차를 수행할 때 (a) 귀하의 콘텐츠를 다양한 공개 네트워크 및 미디어를 통해 전송 또는 배포하고, (b) 귀하의 콘텐츠를 연결 네트워크, 장치, 서비스 또는 미디어의 기술 요구사항에 맞도록 원하는 대로 수정할 수 있음을 이해합니다. 귀하는 해당 라이센스가 Google이 해당 조치를 취할 수 있도록 허용한다는 점에 동의합니다.
11.4 귀하는 귀하가 상기 라이센스를 부여하는 데 필요한 모든 권리와 권한을 갖고 있음을 확인하고 이를 Google에 보증합니다.
